Pregnancy & Birth Prep Yoga
Online Course
Day to day the FH Studio is normally bursting at the seams with gorgeous, blooming bumps because the most popular & in demand class is Pregnancy & Birth Prep Yoga. Unfortunately I (Frilly) am now taking a short break to give birth to my very own baby but I wanted to create something that could mean that we are still practicing together, but from the comfort of your own home as and when you're feeling up to it.
Who is this course for?
This course is great for anyone pregnant. When you begin is completely up to how you're feeling in your pregnancy. I'd recommend not starting before 14 weeks as that first trimester can be a delicate time, but after that, whenever feels right for you. Within it you also have a mini series of classes designed specifically for the very end of pregnancy at 37 weeks +, when I believe that this form of mindful movement and breath guidance can be MOST beneficial. So don't worry if you don't have long to go, this course is amazing for Mummas due to pop very soon too.
What is Pregnancy & Birth Prep Yoga
These classes may be very different to the "yoga" you might be used to or you're expecting. They all have antenatal education weaved through them, because I truly believe that knowledge is power when it comes to giving birth. You will learn to understand your body's biomechanics and how to confidently move both before and during labour and of course, breathe, breathe, BREATHE! It's this physical awareness and knowledge that will optimise your baby's position within you and help your pelvis open and create space where and when necessary.

By the end of this course I want you to feel the power you hold when you understand how to work with your body in labour, rather than fight against it or hold fear. Yes, birth IS natural but that doesn't mean we don't need to prepare for it, because it is also big and challenging at times, so put the work in now and learn to facilitate this transformative experience with your movement, breath and mindset!
How long are the classes?
The classes range from roughly 20 minutes - 35 minutes so that they feel 100% achievable and even when you're feeling your heaviest towards the end, you can still get in some incredible movement in daily, that benefits both you & your baby.
What equipment is needed?
A yoga mat - though technically you could just do all the movements on soft carpet if you didn't want to purchase one.

A birthing ball - I recommend the birthing balls from "BabyGo". You can use the code "FRILLY10" for a discount on yours if you don't already have one. They are used throughout the course as they're such a fantastic tool for creating space in your pelvis and encouraging the most beneficial movements that your body & baby need towards the end.

A blanket - this is just to fold up and put under your knees when doing birthing ball work on all 4s, so that you're as comfortable as possible.
A cosy environment - not quite "equipment" but essential none the less. Make the room you're practicing in just like your birth space. As dimly lit as possible, candles and whatever smells calm you, so that we can get as much oxytocin and relaxation as possible out of these classes.
How much and what's included?
Just £60 for 3 mini series packaged up into one course.
An educational section with chats, workshops and yoga classes to help you understand WHY these movements are so beneficial before and in labour.
A section designed to help relieve and release tension in your body safely, with a blend of mobility, strengthening and stretching classes.

And finally, a section for you to enjoy daily as you approach your due date. A time when mindful and specific movements can have such a positive impact on your birthing experience.
My baby is breech/transverse, will this course help them turn head down?
ABSOLUTELY! Obviously nothing is guaranteed, sometimes babies know best and despite "doing everything", they will stay nice and cosy in their chosen positioning within you. However, every single class in this course is designed to create space in your body to allow and encourage your baby into the most optimal positioning for labour. I swear by birthing ball work when it comes to encouraging your baby into a great position (and i don't mean bouncing), that is why there is a whole workshop dedicated to different ways and variations you can use them both in pregnancy and birth, and the ball is used A LOT in many of the other classes.
